DIY roulette – don’t play it!

  • Asbestos Removal

Many buildings contain asbestos, which was used in spray-applied flame retardant, thermal system insulation, and in a variety of other materials. Asbestos was sometimes “flocked” above false ceilings, inside technical ducts, and in many other small spaces where firefighters would have difficulty gaining access. Structural components like asbestos panels were also used. In residences, asbestos was often a component of a type of flocked acoustic ceiling called popcorn ceiling or “cottage cheese ceiling”. These are normally harder to take off but with an on-site visit one of those Solutions below would be recommended and quote it on. 1. Asbestos Cladding 2. Asbestos roofing 3. Lino flooring 4. Textured Ceilings Removals
  • Asbestos Cladding

Fibre cement sheeting was commonly used around the house and commercially because it would not rot or warp it was considered an ideal cladding roofing fencing decking and numerous other applications it is believed to have been used in houses up to the year 2000 once again an accredited lab test for anything prior to this is required we can walk you through the process and best safe practice Solutions to remove any of these products
  • Asbestos Roofing

Asbestos was used in 3 different formats Super 6 roof and baby super six Super 6 was used alot commercially and baby super 6 domestically both of these can also be found as fencing and cladding on sheds. some of the mastic that holds the chip in decra mastic tiles has asbestos the only way to know is to do a lab test a lot of people over the years have water blasted and painted the decramastic without realising there is asbestos in the mastic safe practice would be to have a test to ascertain if asbestos is present before any form of water blasting and painting is done. Also they used it in fibre cement sheets that was stamp out to look like slate tiles on a roof.
  • Lino Flooring

Lino flooring has a high content of asbestos in the mill board it can also be in the glue this is a class a product and should be removed with a 4 stage clearance decontamination unit and negative pressure air unit AWM Ltd is able to provide the service as we are class a certified.

  • Textured Ceilings

Textured ceiling can be a sprayed ceiling which is been called popcorn or porridge these are normally a soft texture unless they have been painted the only way to tell if your ceiling is free from asbestos is to have it tested buy an accredited laboratory this is one of the services we can provide we will give you options such as just removal of texture or removal skin and repaint for the final one would be to cut and drop the ceiling The second texture that was applied to ceilings and walls was a hard hand pattern some of the patterns were known as stipple swirl and starburst
